Don Aniello Marigliano del Monte, called “Lillino”, was born in 1865 shortly after the fall of the Bourbons, devoted a great part of his life to travelling, during which he studied various cultivation techniques in agriculture. A discreet painter, he married Ortensia Italia, daughter of the Bostonian James Jackson Jarves. Widowed at the birth of his last daughter Maria, he embarked on a new series of journeys. Returning from South America, where he had studied large plantations, he met and later married his second wife Julie Du Charme of Gross Pointe in Michigan.
